Quaderns Portàtils embarked on a groundbreaking journey, transcending traditional print constraints to embrace the dynamic digital landscape. This endeavor involved a complete metamorphosis, aiming to generate low-cost publications and redefine the brand, layout, and format to meet evolving user preferences and demands.

This ambitious assignment demanded more than preserving tactile charm; it required a systematic redesign meticulously tailored for a dynamic and digitally-engaged readership, ensuring seamless navigation and immersive digital experiences.

Expanding beyond mere adaptation, the comprehensive redesign unfolded for both print and new digital formats, establishing project objectives, requirements, and expectations that helped shape the path.

Research: Workshops and interviews conducted with users and the client underscored the need for a smooth transition from physical to digital formats, aiming to improve portability by significantly reducing its size for ease of travel or mobility (data below).

Key features and user-centric highlights: Defining the needs and ensuring design consistency across paper and digital formats ensures precise visual contrast. Leveraging mobile app capabilities allows for flexible font and background options. Additionally, a distinctive logo enhances document detailing.

Learnings and failed paths: Designing with different tools for EPUB compatibility, exploring alternative formats, and integrating multimedia elements led to unexpected outcomes. Yet, guided by resilience, these challenges became stepping stones for ongoing refinement.

Available for download on the macba.cat ↗ website is an interactive book or printable collection, easily accessed and assembled in A4 format, offering versatile binding options for office, home, or travel use.

Problems solved: The digital adaptation journey yields an immersive and easily upgradable reading companion, providing an engaging experience for a dynamic, tech-savvy audience. Users can now download, save, and manage their books, even sharing them with their contacts. Quaderns Portàtils now represents a digital presence that is easily accessible and shareable.
